Consolidating imported faces?

Anonymous
Not applicable

I imported a file from Solidworks as a DXF to do text around a curve.  The faces once I extruded them are many many small simple faces.  I am trying to draft them so I can make a proper mold.  Is it possible to consolidate them so I can do fewer clicks to draft? Or am I stuck clicking a ton of times.?

PS, its just a name of a camping trip.

Hi,

Merging the faces in the sculpt environment is the only way to connects them, and using the chain selection can be helpful

The main problem is caused by your sketch, you see when you imported this dxf into Fusion, it became multiple lines

Here is a screenshot to show you what I mean :

What command do I do to patch it?  Not sure about that function.  Never done that type of operation before

Here is a screenshot of the Merge command in the patch environment :

And another way to do it is by sketching over this dxf file in Fusion, Here is a screenshot of the result after I sketched over some letters ( file is attached ) :

Kind regards

No this is normal Fusion, but you should do the extrusion and have the faces for the command to appear

Hi,

This is exactly the problem, you should select them face by face to merge them, and not a window selection, although usually chain selection helps a lot, it's doesn't help in your case

That why instead of taking too long to select the faces, just sketch new letters on the dxf ones

Use the text command in the sketch menu to create new letters of the same fonts, and place them on the dxf ones

Regards
