Connection + TPU Missing + force study

Hi, so below I have an F3D file attached.

My issue is that I used the combine tool to connect two bodies, and it shows it in the timeline, but it doesn't show it on the body?

Secondly, does a material property for the 3D printing material TPU exist in Fusion, or do I have to import my own?

Thirdly, @henderh , I know Fusion doesn't support true dynamic impact simulations; however, I thought that I may be able to work around it, so I thought to do a static stress simulation for reaction forces and stress distribution, but what I was wondering is can we measure deformation? Also, as I've never used it, I wanted to know if F360 offers a fatigue study. because I can't see any, but then again I'm horrible at finding stuff.

Also for @henderh , what would be the best workaround for a true dynamic impact simulation if I were throwing this ball at a wall to measure the level of force I apply to the wall at different speeds?

Tired regards,

Ricky

Hi,

In my opinion, your plan requires that, in addition to the pure material parameters, factors such as layer adhesion and layer height, changing layer direction, infill density, pattern, and direction can be combined into object parameters.

Hi Günther,

I did get this warning from a "colleague"; my best idea to work around this is to shell the inside and add a sealable hole. Basically, the idea is I'll have the infill set to 100% as the ball will be considerably small. And the very long tube in the ball created by the shell will require support. For this I'll use dissolvable white PLA support, so with the sealable hole, I'll pour water, dissolve the support and voila, no support on the inside, and I can pour the support solution outside through the sealable hole, and then I can seal the sealable hole. Therefore, the final product will be "identical" to the fusion. Layer height will be miniscule as I will use the smallest nozzle, to try and replicate a smooth as possible surface like f360. However this was the plan until you said

Which is something I don't get. Can you explain how you can combine these into object parameters? Do you mean adjusting the TPU's properties, like strength and stiffness, if I need to import it to take into account the fact that this is 3D printed and not done with something like filling a mould or CNC router? If CNC routers can do TPU, because I don't know if they can.

Hi,
I'm speaking straight out now.
FEM simulation makes no sense for 3D-printed (inhomogeneous) components as long as important printing parameters are not included in the simulation.

Right let me clear this up. I'm 15. This is just a GCSE project (or My finals for the american folk) and I'd like to display the limitations of my product without actually breaking the real model once I make it. To make up for the fact that it is a "inhomogenous" component I will be adding a saftey factor of *1.5 or *2 depending on how well my final model goes, as there is D30 that needs to be stuck to the outside with glue, and this could damage the TPU so yh...

and while your online is there a solution for how to join the two bodies together while you're online? Because in my F360 timeline it shows a combine where I combined them together, but in reality they're just not joined. And I'm not even getting an error message?

and tpu in F360 or do I need to import it, or do I have to make it by adjusting the material property of something like rubber or plastic?

Let me clarify this, I'm 15 this is for my GCSE's (Finals for the American folk) and I'm just trying to show a rough value for the limitations of my product once made. I will put a saftey value of 1.5 or 2 to make up for bad production as I need to cover it in 3DO and glue which may damage the TPU. So if the accuracy is a touch off I'm okay with that,I just need a rough idea as I dont want to break the actual thing.

Do you have answers to my other questions like why the bodies won't join even though in the timeline it says they've been combined.

And does TPU exist? in fusion or do I need to import it or do i need to adjust the property values of like rubber or plastic to make TPU.

Kind regards

Ricky

Hi,

1. I can't open the file > Insider version?
2. create a custom material with the specific data

How can I convert an insider file to a normal file? it's not like I used any insider features here.

and thank you for the custom material info

You should be able to find that out in the Insider forum.

@TrippyLighting ik u have insider, can u help here?

@g-andresen I'll see if I can recreate my thing in normal fusion using web client and then send it here.

No, I don't use the insider version of Fusion. I use Fusion mainly on two, sometimes on three, different computers, professionally and for my projects. It would get very confusing if I had to remember which version of which computer I created something with.
