Connect added lines to projected lines in the same sketch

Hi all,

I have projected lines into a sketch from a solid. In this sketch I have added new lines that I will use later on in the design process. It all worked fine.

Now I need to change the size of the solid and the projected lines follow in the sketch but not the added lines (in the same sketch). Is there any way to connect the added lines to the projected lines so they scale equally?

Kind Regards,

Sofia

File>Export and then Attach your *.f3d file here.

In general you would add Coincident Constraints (these might be added automatically) and Dimensions to tie together your geometry.  Parametric dimensions will result in one change propagating to all related parameters.

I do not see any dimensions in your image?

Thank you for your reply, in the end I just measured the lengths and calculated the new lengths with the same percent as the reduced scale of the shape and made a new sketch with those measurements.

That's fine. You solved your immediate problem. But you don't want to have to recalculate every time you make a change, right?

You want to set up dependencies that solve the problem for you no matter how you edit things.

Now, I know my example only includes a couple of extrusions. I have no idea what operation you want to perform or what geometry you're trying to achieve. The point I'm trying to get across is how to set up the dependencies you want. Apply this concept as required to get the results you want.

Please note that I COULD have achieved the same geometry with only one sketch. I could have drawn the rectangle right into the sketch of the pie slice and dimensioned it with the same dependencies. Still would have done two Extrude operations, but would have resulted in the same geometry with the same scaling ability.
