Configurations - Target Body Limitation

Hello,

It is my first time trying to make something configurable, I am trying to make wall tiles for a maze, it has 8 sections, 4 corners and 4 walls. I am having issues with the configuration.

Attempt 1: Suppression of (Join) Extrude Operation

This had the obvious issue that if I didn't want the first extruded segment, none of the other segments could be extruded. So if I wanted just the right wall and both right side corners it wouldn't work because the first extrude in the timeline, the top left corner, is suppressed.

Attempt 2: Suppression of (New Body) Extrude Operation with Combine at the End

I tried to avoid the issue of needing a target body by making every extrude a new body. However, the combine tool requires a target body which then also has the issue that the selected target segment could be one I didn't want.

Attempt 3: Suppression of (Join) Extrude Operation with Rotation of Body

I tried to configure a rotation with join extrude operations, so there will be no limit on the first extrude operation. There was an issue where the move operation kept getting suppressed when some walls were suppressed despite there still being a body present.

Attempt 4: Suppression of (Join) Extrude Operation with Rotation of Sketch

Rotating a sketch cannot become a timeline operation, thus it can't be configured! How annoying.

Extrude features were done clockwise, starting with the top left corner, then top wall, top right corner, right wall, and so on.Extrude features were done clockwise, starting with the top left corner, then top wall, top right corner, right wall, and so on.

Is there a way to configure it so that the first configured unsuppressed extrude becomes a new body operation and any extrude operations after that are join?

If there is a better way to approach this, any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Nick

EDIT: Adding reference for what I am trying to configure:

Hi Nick,

Quick question on Attempt 2: after extruding each segment as New Body, what was the reason you needed to Combine at the end? Was it for printing/simulation/export, or just to have one body in the model?

Thanks,
Evan

Overly complicated:

See model attached.

Thanks for the reply! It was for printing, also I currently am using a 2x2 grid but the micromouse mazes are typically 16x16, so when I scale up, the number of bodies would be a lot.

After further thought, I am just going to add the base tile to the file, every extrude can join to that and there will be no target body issue! I think this is the solution.

EDIT: It was not the solution, I have zero clue what I was thinking. I do not want to merge my walls with the base tile >_<.

Thank you for the reply, but it's overly complicated to you because you assumed a simpler function than what I was modeling for. I needed the corners configurable as neighboring grids shares peg holes, so some walls would need to get rid of their corner peg to sit beside another wall.

I am going to try to make corners with slots and walls that slide in, will be simpler and not need configuration per print. Still would make the maze model a pain to put together :<<.
