Concentric or Coincident Joint

Hi all.

Part in question is attached. I make models for re-machining these parts, and define the root and flange diameters with user parameters. I join them using the concentric Joint.

I have changed parameters on these models, now they don't seem to be concentric anymore, see screenshot.

Would the coincident joint be a better option in this application or is there something else wrong with my sketch or design?

Hello.

Yes, I did.

If you open the circled sketch in the screenshot you will notice that both models are not concentric, even when I used the concentric joint.

I don't know why that is, can you help me?

You are basing your circle sketch on the base of the first sketch.  There are two dimensions in both of these sketches that do not make sense to me so I cannot tell you why the circle sketch is off.

One dimension is the flange diameter of the roller, and the other is the root diameter.

That is obvious, but the what one end of the dimension is attached to is the mystery.  It is floating in midair.

I selected the center line of the sketch and used a diameter dimension, the same line the part is revolved around.

Your sketch is backwards in my opinion.  You have the Model origin at the outside of the sketch and it should be where the center is.  Anyway, the two sketches, one in each component, that position the circle in question are off by 0.05".

Yes, now that you mention it having it at the top corner doesn't make any sense, it would definitely make more sense having the origin at the center of the part. I will start from scratch and make sure to do that properly.
