Components go missing when local ray tracing

I'm rather new to Fusion 360 (I find it great though and telling everybody). I have a few problems though (I'll be posting ome of them later). My current problem is in rendering -- I'm lucky to have a really high end computer here (a full-spec Mac "winecooler"), but a really lousy internet connection (with a data-cap)  so I use local ray tracing rather than cloud rendering. It's really fast even on the advanced setting.

However, sometimes, I find that some components are missing from the render. In the case shown here, there are two subassemblies which were imported from my workspace in the cloud. Each of them, individually, rendered fine. I made this assembly from scratch: open a new document, add the first item, then add the second, and joint it to the first. That's all. Everything has been saved.

There's clearly an issue with the cloud rendering too, by the way.

Here is a link to the model: http://a360.co/1LrtcuG

Here's the screen before ray-tracing, and then after a few iterations.

thanks for any assistance,

cheers,

Richard

@RichardGerSpatial

Can you expand your components in the tree and take another screen cap? Are all your models in the same project folder?

There's rather a lot of components so I've had to expand in two parts, for the two major subassemblies. All the items are in the same project folder.

thanks,

Richard

Try something for me, there is an error in one or more of your components (although I can't tell which one).

Do a save as on this assembly and give it a different name so we can test without messing up the original. Then right click on each missing component in the render and break the links and then try to render and see if everything shows up.

Interesting: I was unable to break the links on individual components until I broke the link on the (one of two) top level subassemblies. When I did that I tried ray tracing, with the lower-level components still showing as linked. Now the missing components show up in the ray trace:

Ok now try this do the same thing again, save as different file name on the assembly then break the link and then undo the break the link and try to render it again and see if the subassemblies show. Your problems are in those sub assemblies. I had to save as on my problem assemblies to fix this. It was an easy fix, weird problem that AD and I have yet to figure out.

@ahsan.autodesk

Can you look into this and see if @RichardGerSpatial problem and mine are the same maybe it will help find this bug?

Thanks for alerting me to this Phil.
Sure, I'll download Richard's data and give it a peek.

Thanks Phil,

that did the trick on the first duplicate file.  But the second duplicate was even worse behaved ...

So I've got a working file, but mystery remains.

cheers,

Richard

@RichardGerSpatial

I had an issue very similar to this and @ahsan.autodesk and I were trying to figure it out, hopefully between my files and yours we can get to the bottom of this and get it resolved.

The first duplicate I had you make was one fix and the second was another just wanted to try to narrow this problem down with as much information as possible for Ahsan to look into it.

Anyways I'm glad I was able to at least get you past your issue for now.

Cheers

Phil
