Components across multiple projects

Hi,

I am fairly new to Fusion 360 and i am trying to figure out the best way to deal with common components that will be used in multiple projects and also how to setup the components in the browser for individual design files.

My idea is to have a components that will be used in multiple projects to be located in their own project file and then i can just insert these in designs in other projects.  I see the component links seem to work across different projects.

Then for the component browser inside a design file i want to have a clean navigation experience when there are lots of components.  For example i want to put all the screws, nuts and washer components into a top level component called "fasteners".  I know there is the "Named Views" feature but i find that doing it this way leaves a hard to navigate browser experience.

Does this approach sound ok or are there any other work flows that are recommended?

Thanks

Hi,

1. component inside design > rightclick > save copy as „my assembly“

2. new project (saved) > Datapanel „my assembly“ drag & drop or rightclick „insert into current design“

3. New component  (with sub components) > insert parts
