Component quantities not showing up in design tree

Hi guys, I am currently trying to create drawings and a BOM from an assembly I was sent. The part quantities are not being reflected in the model however, and subsequently, are not showing up correctly in the BOM.

As you can see at the top of the design tree, the group "Brass side strips" is showing that there is only one part in the group despite the fact that there are four separate components within the group.

Any ideas as to why this is the case?

Hi @ron,

Thank you for posting.  The reason that it is not showing up in the BOM is because the four components are nested underneath a component and we only include top level components (we don't list the children) in the BOM.  The fix is actually quite easy.  Using the browser displayed in the drawing, suppress the "Brass Side Strips" component by clicking on the check mark  Once you do that the children will be included in the BOM.  Let me know if you have any issues.

Hi Kris,

Thanks for the swift reply. I suppressed the parent "Brass strips" group as suggested but unfortunately it just removed the brass strips from the BOM completely. Should the parent group not reflect the amount of parts in it, or is that not the case i Fusion? Any other ideas?

Hi @ron,

I am sorry that didn't work for you.  I tested it on a small design with 2 subassemblies with the same child components and when I suppressed one it had the effect of changing the BOM to show all the child components of the other assembly.  I assumed it was showing the children of the suppressed subassembly, but I needed to look a little closer.  The only time it will show the children components is if there is only one top level component in the drawing.  So to fix your problem... The only way I know is to select the 4 components under brass side strips and select "Cut" in the model browser (displayed when editing the design) and then select the top entry in the browser (Full Assembly) and execute the paste command.  This will make those components top level components (children of the Full Assembly instead of children of "Brass side strips").  However, that still won't get you what you want because the BOM will now show Component48-51 each with a count of 1.  To fix this, after you complete the restructure described above, you will need to take Component48 and rename it to the name you want to show in the BOM (or select the Properties command and assign a Part Name and Number).  You will now need to copy and paste it 3 times at the same locations as Component49-51 and then delete Components 49-51, you are effectively replacing Component49-51 with a copies of the single brass side strip (Component48).  That should get you what you want.  If you need help let me know.  Again sorry for the earlier confusion.
