Component out of date

In one model, Fusion is telling me I have a component that is out of date. The "Get All Latest" is greyed out so I can't use that to update the component. If I open the model (30 Outfeed Table) that contains the out of date component, everything looks like its up to date. How can a component be out of date in the top level, but not in the component that contains it?

I have seen this as well.  It had me confused for a bit.

If the component that is out of date is actually an assembly of other components, you will need to go update those components before you can update the whole assembly.  For example, I have a machine that is a purchased part that I imported as an STL.  From there I created a new file for a base plate and insterted the machine into it in order to pattern the mounting holes for the base plate.  I then inserted the base plate assembly into my larger assembly.

If I make a change to the original machine (that was imported as a STL file), I will get a "Component out of date" message in the final assembly.  I will, however, be unable to get the latest version of that assembly until I update the base plate assembly.

Ergo, this requires two "get latest version" steps--one in the base plate assembly and one in the final assembly.

This behavior of Fusion 360 will change hopefully soon!

The roadmap contains an item called "deep update" for the first half of 2016 that aims to address this issue.

Yes...I recall reading about that.

That would be stupendous.

I see what you're saying, but that doesn't appear to be the issue for me. In the OutOfDate.jpg screenshot, I have "30 Infeed Table V3 v6" which is made up of components "30 Outfeed Table V3 v3" and "Stepover Plates". The component "30 Roller Conveyor Hea..." within "30 Outfeed Table V3 v3" is showing as out of date. I understand that I won't be able to update from here because "30 Roller Conveyor Hea..." is 2 layers deep, but if I open "30 Infeed Table V3 v6" which is shown in the screenshot NotOutOfDate.jpg, "30 Roller Conveyor Hea..." is up to date.

When oyu make screneshots it would be helpful to see the timelimne as well. It often contains the cluse to what's going on.

Here's a new screenshot that includes the timeline for the model that says a component is out of date. The timeline for the subcomponent that shows everything is up to date is too long to fit in a single screenshot, is there something in particular that you're looking for?

I have no idea if this heps, but I'd try to save and close out the two other open files annd then see if you can update.

If not I'd close all the files, close Fusion and then start again by opening the overall assembly file and see if that works.

I seem to have stumbled upon some combination of manually reverting and updating versions that resulted in the model showing everything up to date. Then I went to the final assembly. Something is broken in the versioning of linked components. The "30 Infeed Table V3" is using version 4 of "30 Outfeed Table V3"; however, if I try to manually choose the version for "30 Outfeed Table V3" which is highlighted in the browser, the Choose Version window doesn't even show version 4.

You have another thread where you're having trouble with your internet connection, I wonder if that might be causing problems with having all the latest versions updated to the cloud.

Could you try uploading the application log files to this thread (located in Autodesk Fusion 360 directory)? They may contain some clues as to what is happening with both the connection and the version issue.

See the below URL for how to manually collect them.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How...

You may also just use the diagnostic log file command from the help menu to gather the relevant log files.

Thanks,

I have the same problem. I build all the parts myself, nothing from another machine. I can't see or open anything in the side browser or find out whats causing the problem.

Please share a screenshot of what the data panel (side browser) looks like. Is it black or are the designs empty?

This may be a symptom of poor internet connection. Is it possible to test working offline for a moment to see if it helps?

Thanks,

Hi there, I've got the same issue in a complex design.

Multiple components are referenced from external files. All of them are up to date but the Top component tells me "Warning: 1 Component is out of date. Update the Direct reference from the browser. To update the Indirect reference, open it separately and update.". Opening all subcomponents show that they are all up to date. All joints match. No deleted component in the history bar of each component. All histories are without errors, and all joints work.

Hope you can help. Thanks in advance.

Seems to be the solution. My ISP had had some issues that day and my problem couldn't be seen again.
