Clean up Mesh (converted from 3d DXF)

Hello community!

I have a rather complex 3d DXF drawing of a house - exported from an architecture software (ArCon) years back.

I would like to 3d print this house and before make some changes to the model.

Importing DXF did now work in Fusion 360 directly, but after some tries, I have found a way to convert the DXF into a OBJ file which I was able to import with quite good results.

However, I cannot repair the mesh body to convert it into a solid - tried just about all tutorials I was able to find on this..

My main aim is to just have the outer shell of the house and delete all interior objects..

Attaching both the original DXF, the converted OBJ as well as the f3d project

Any pointers would be highly appreciated!

Hi. Did you try Mesh -> Repair -> Repair type = Wrap, this will remove all interior. I attached my result out of your f3d.

Thanks for the response!

yes - I have actually tried the same (with exactly the same results as you), but there are some issues:

- still cannot convert to a solid to to errors in the mesh

- many details lost in the windows / doors

- weird shapes / faces added on the roof that I cannot remove unless I can somehow convert into a solid

Remodel it with Fusion's solid modeling tools instead of trying to convert. It will take less time, effort and nerve to do the remodeling (and better results) than trying to convert this mesh with several bodies and a very wide span of mesh sizes. Most of the exterior can be done by a few simple sketch and extrude operations. Also you have a few unique types of elements (windows, doors, etc.) that need to be modeled only once.

I ended up doing exactly that.

Worked better and faster than I thought..

As you said, I spent much more time trying to fix it than remodeling it..

Cheers!
