Circular COIL is not circular?

Hello,

I want to model something similar to ball screw. I have a problem, that when in coil parameters I set i.e. 8mm circular section size, then 8mm ball (sphere) does not fit. You can see this on screens below and in the uploaded test project. Thank you for any suggestions how I can do that ball will fit the screw.

Coil parameters:

8mm sphere ball:

How they NOT fit:

When I increase the coil section size, then there is also gap under the ball (so the coil is ellipsoidal, not circular).

Hi,

I'm a bit pressed for time today so can't do a screen cast of the process, but attached is one method for achieving this. The issue is that a circular path on a spiral is not perpendicular to the spiral, so you end up with an ellipse profile. You need to cheat this with another profile (that is perpendicular) that uses a "sweep" to make the cut. This will then have the correct profile.

If I get time later I can go into further details, or im sure someone else can add to what I have suggested, or come up with a better solution.

I should have said that the part shown in red is a "spiral" that is uses as a path for the sweep that actually makes the cut. Shout if you have any questions.
