Circle dimension lock

Hope this is the right place, most likely not, Sorry.

I am struggling to use the = constraint on two circles. I notice that there is a lock icon next to my circle dimension which could be the cause. Why is that lock there and how do I get rid of it? See below.

That is a not really a lock, just a lock as you are entering your sketch dimension.  As the video shows, this comes in handy when you have more than one dimensional value to enter.

For circles you can ignore the padlock, for other geometry, rectangles, etc, it means lock this dimension, while I go set the other one.  You can bounce between the text boxes, but pressing Enter / Ok, uses the locked value.

If the third circle is to be Equal to another, don’t Dimension it, finish the circle and then add the Constraint.

Might help.....

Thank you for that. It does explain some things to me.

So that is then not my problem. The = constraint for circles does not work for me. Is there something I might be doing wrong. I must try and figure this video capture thing out.......  can not apply the equal constraint to circles.

can not apply the equal constraint to circles.

If more than one is dimensioned.

Draw Multiple circles without dimensions, make them equal, dimension one circle, they will all be equal.

Equal Constraint has the black and red bars, right next to it is the parallel icon, don’t mix them up.

Trouble with movie?, take screenshots.

Might help....

Aaaa great. So my problem is fixed. So you can not equal a circle once dimensioned.

Thank you very much, all of you.
