Changing units on 2d drawing

I have a drawing template created in MM units and I need to create inch drawings also. I would like to use the same template. When I create a drawing from design, choosing my drawing template also prevents me from selecting Inches as a drawing unit. If I accept MM units and proceed, then I have a drawing where again, I cannot change the drawing units.

Searches of the forum show that this is a long-time outstanding problem. Are you going to fix this? Is this capability restriction present in the paid version of Fusion 360 also? As others have pointed out, this is a fundamental shortcoming when comparing Fusion 360 to any other CAD product.

I'd like to follow this up by saying this isn't a bash post. I literally cannot find any workaround for this. It doesn't seem possible to export the title block as a DWG so I can import it into a new inches-format template. It does not seem possible to copy title blocks into the copy/paste buffer. How do I create and maintain MM and Inch drawing templates that are otherwise the same?

As a new user, I find the difficulty of this seemingly trivial problem discouraging and it may stop me from investing further effort into moving my business to the Fusion 360 product.

@Anonymous we really appreciate the input. You're right that this is a current limitation, the only workaround is to recreate the title block in the second template. As always, we will follow up the initial feature release (in this case of Custom Title Blocks) with additional releases to round out the functionality based on customer feedback like yours. I've made a note that this is a workflow that should be addressed in the future. Thanks for your patience.

This is a huge flaw in the software.

What we are talking about is a simple task (save mm template to inches, change units, save, done).  To "recreate" said template could be hours of work for each size template for everyone out here using your software. vs a few hours of work for a programmer on your end to fix it for everyone using the software.

I do not see this in the future timeline.  When will this be implemented???

It's so frustrating that this software is so superior, yet limited at the same time.  Between this and NPT modeled threads (for me it's 3D printing) I have to do so much more work to get around the limitations.  UGH.

@gobluejd  The fact that all of your custom threads get left behind after an update and you have to manually copy and paste a text file from one nearly impossible to find folder to another is beyond me haha Smiley LOL

This is still on our long-term roadmap, and we will get to it in the future. Right now the team is focused on building out better support for DWG export, adding DXF export and basic drawing tools to the Drawings workspace. Thanks for your patience as the team is working as quickly as they can.
