change background appearance
Did you try the Photo Booth environment, that should give you a white background.

this looks like a graphics issue. It's got nothing to do with the background. It's a little tough to tell from the very small hand-held video, but that's what it looks like to me. Can you copy/paste that Graphics Diagnostics information, and post it here? Also, if you are willing, try using Autodesk Screencast get it here, which will improve the quality of the video, and maybe help us see something. @Phil.E, can you tell from the graphics info here, if this is a card we should support?

Sorry to say but the GPU you have is not supported. It has only 64 MB of RAM. The minimum is 512 MB for GPU. This is likely the cause of your problem here.
