Chamfer error

I am attempting to add a 120.0 degree chamfer with a diameter of 0.186 to a hole with a diameter of 0.125 on a 0.032 thick plate. each time I enter the information into the box i receive this error message. "The fillet/chamfer could not be created at the requested size.
Try adjusting the size, deselecting some of the edges (try disabling Tangent Chain), or using multiple separate operations." is there a reason a simple chamfer like this isnt working, and what can i do to fix this? i have attached a screenshot of the part and only the one highlighted hole is getting the chamfer.

You have the chamfer set as equidistant. This, by nature, makes it a 90/45/45 triangle and not the 120/30/30 you're looking for.

 

Try changing the chamfer type to a distance and angle style.

Sorry i had already tried that and when it didn't work i closed the box and reopened it just for the screenshot and i forgot to change the chamfer type. Here is another picture with the correct chamfer type, and it is still erroring out with the same error message.

Thank you posting in the community!

 

I tried to add the chamfer to the hole as below - if I misunderstood it, please let me know.

Since "Distance" is defined as the distance from chamfer edge to hole edge, I put "(0.186-0.125)/2" for Distance and "30" for Angle.3d.png

i tried exactly what you did and it still wont accept the chamfer size and allow me to click ok to finish the operation.

How thick is your material?  If it's not thick enough it won't be able to make the chamfer with those settings.

the material is 0.032 thick, and the chamfer is what the drawing calls out for. so it should be possible to machine this considering the part has been made by other companies before now.

Ah, I see what is happening now. You've hit a quirk of Fusion (perhaps @jeff_strater can elaborate).

 

The chamfer command in distance/angle has two different solutions that it can calculate. One solution uses the distance measurement as an axial distance (thickness in this case) where the other solution uses a diametrical distance.

 

If you notice in Kanehiko's post, the distance arrow is parallel to the surface of the material. In your post, the arrow is perpendicular. In order to solve for your case, you'd just need to know the other leg length (i.e. the depth of the chamfer) and use that as the distance (I imagine your angle would need to flip also).
