Challenging Custom pipe path with spiral

Hi guys,

I was playing with my daughter and decided to model this to practice.

I'm currently trying to model the green pipe.

My first questions is, how would you model that period ? (and how would you do it intelligently) ?

My second question is, is it possible to make a 3d parametric sketch first and then use the pipe or sweep profile command ?

The first question is more important.

Background info : I'm ok doing the cylindrical section, I don't know how to do the spiral section properly. I have tried extracting a spiral from a coil, but I can't align the coil in space properly to my desires.

Thank you.

I've attached a dxf file that cointain two circles, where the ends of the pipe meet.

I found this to be an interesting concept so I tried it out. Being new to 3D modeling and Fusion especially, I thought I'd "practice with your practice". I see what you ran into with trying to transition from a straight line to a spiral. Best I came up with was to leave each sweep short and loft the two pieces together. Certainly not the 100% way to do it but it kinda worked. I'm interested to see how a more experienced person will tackle this project.

Well done !

I worked on this for a week and finished it.

I hope you can see the result here http://a360.co/2BeE6j8

The joints and the contact sets made it easy to animate most things.

I did not let perfection slow me down 😉

So for 2018 I've decided to work "as much as I can" on one single model each week. This week I did a lego x-sing in Solidworks, I have one year experience in Fusion 360, but none in Solidworks.
