Cannot Position a Printed Circuit Board on a panel

I have designed a printed circuit board in DipTrace and exported a 3D model to a step file, then uploaded the step file into Fusion 360. All good. I see the board in Fusion 360, I used the move command to orient the plane parallel to a panel to which the board will mount.

Now I want to properly position that board behind the panel. To do this, I want to choose the center of a button and the center of it's hole and join them. Easy to do...

What happens is the individual switch component detaches itself from the board and lines up in the hole. The rest of the board  just sits there. I have tried selection sets, making the board a rigid assembly to no avail. I even thought that maybe the parts were not joined to the board but they already have a joint which is pointed out when trying to join them.

Gotta be something simple... For the purpose of this assembly that board is one component. It shows up as a top-level component and does not act like one, all the parts on the board are separate components and move independently.

Any help appreciated.

Right-click on the linked assembly for the PCB the browser and select Rigid Group.

Make sure to have Include Child Components selected. All the components in that assembly including the PCB should highlight.

Accept with OK. Afterwards the assembly should behave as one.

Who you join the PCB assembly to another component, the preview animation will look like only one component of the PCB moves, but this is only a simified preview to show the motion of the joint. It is not a full motion simulation involving al components.

When you finish creating the joint with OK the PCB assembly will be joined as a whole.
