What Phil says is correct. You need to create components before you start creating multiple bodies if you want them to end up all in one component, at least in the history environment. Activate the component when working on it so sketches and construction features as well are contained within the component. Trust me, life will be much better if you do this religiously.
If you switch to direct modeling (right click on the top component and select “do not capture design history”) the options become much more flexible, but you lose the ability to use parametric controls, if that is important to you- it may not be. Without knowing how important to your downstream intent the paramedic links in the design are, it’s difficult to make suggestions. If you don’t intend to alter the design parametrically down the road, then by all means switch to direct modeling.
A workaround might be to duplicate the design, select “do not capture design history”, then in the copy delete everything other than the bodies and sketches you want to move. Back up to the point you started creating these parts, then re-import that design as a new component. You won’t have design history for that component, and depending on how the design is structured or the order in which you did things you may break other features, but the general idea can sometimes help.
A better plan, if you want parametric control, would be to back up to a version where you started making the bodies you want to move, create and activate a new component, and rebuild what you have done.
