Cannot 'Copy > Paste' Component or Body between f3d files

Hi,

I want to use a component/body from one file as a start point to create a new component/body in another file.

Up until now I have just dragged and dropped f3d files from the Data Panel into a new design. But in this case I created the component inside a bigger file with multiple components and I dont want them all coming in.

  • So I have a f3d file open and I create another new file.
  • I select 'Part Design'.
  • I right-click the component or body in my original file and select 'Copy'.

In my new file there is no paste option?

I have read some other posts, I even saw one where a reply said "Thanks, your solution worked" but I couldn't see the solution! Unfortunately I cannot share the file.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Part files, have new restrictions.

Change the destination file to Assembly type, or

Change preferences to Default all files to Hybrid.

Might help….

Thanks, I also tried with the destination as Assembly but there is still no paste option. This new menu when creating a new file seems to have unnecessarily complicated things.

Just checked, Paste also not visible for Hybrid. I wonder if this is a bug?

Ok, so 'Paste New' appears after I have added an empty component to the new file. So there needs to be at least 1 component in the file before you can paste in a component?

However, I am getting errors when I try to paste. Does anyone know the process I should follow to find these issues in the original file so I can fix them?

I now also cant unlink from parent when I bring a component into a new file. How do I revert back to a pre-upgrade version of the app?

Change existing documents to hybrid in document settings (at the top of the browser).

Change the default design type in the preferences to hybrid. You'll have to close and restart Fusion for the preferences to apply.
