Can't import dwg files to Fusion 360

Hello, a customer wants me to engrave some simple 2-d maps for him on my CNC router. He can export .dwg or .dxf files for me to import into Fusion 360, but as you can see from the attachments what I get when I import this simple file containing a compass rose into Fusion 360 is pretty much gibberish. The dwg file was created by ArcGIS, and I can see it just fine in my dwg viewer. Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks!

yep something is wrong there, It went bad converting it to a dxf in a different program then inserting it into fusion, I tried converting it to a svg and that worked file attached.

Why it went bad I don't know, there are problems with some different programs dwg and dxf in fusion, if one file type falls converting from dwg to dxf or svg or vise versa seems to work most times.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting! If I try to open the file in AutoCAD, I get the warning below and this means the file is not TrustedDWG. I suspect the file was not exported correctly. However, I also suspect there is an issue with the translator in Fusion since the file can be viewed properly in AutoCAD and A360 Viewer so I'll report this to the development team for further investigation. In the meantime, would you be able to try exporting in another file format if available?

@Anonymous one other thing if you have this problem again and don't have a program to do the conversion, if the file is viewable other programs may be fine with it just ask it takes 1 min to do.

Thanks so much Daniel, your svg file opens just fine in fusion 360.

I'd be OK with converting these to something usable if I could, but unfortunately I don't have access to another application that can convert these dwg files (I only have a free viewer to look at them). So long story short if Fusion 360 can't use them then I probably can't work with them.

The problem is your drawing is a long way from the origin. If you're interested I can make a screencast showing how to move the sketch to the origin using QCad, Qcad's free. I've attached a DXF exported from Qcad, import using insert dxf on the insert menu.
