Can only extrude (cut) one way, but error when symmetric

Hopefully the title maxes sense. I'm trying to trim a body using a simple extrude cut. I'm pretty new to Fusion 360 and attempting to learn by designing items from the video game Valorant. I'm attaching my fd3 file as well as two screenshots that show me being able to extrude cut one side, but the error when trying to do that symmetrically.

I found an article that mentioned I could go to direct editing mode to use the validation tool but I do not want to lose my history. Is that just a tradeoff for fixing this issue?

Thanks for any help or tips to get me passed this issue.

Hi ,
in this case let the sketch bigger that include the geometry .. this helps Fusion to understand the cut

Wow, it was that simple. For some reason towards the back if my sketch is too close to the bottom face, the extrude only works to one side. Thanks aliobidi!
