Can a component embed its own user parameter set ?

Obvious examples would be custom screws, spacers, washers, grids, etc. A component could be the template for each generic piece in a design. And each component would be designed with its own user parameter set (with sometimes conflicting names).

I know that copying components with "paste new" copies parameters too, but those names are global to design, not local to each component. And names are modified with a suffix like _1, not really meaningful IMO. Names should be unchanged within each component and accessible at up levels with a namespace prefix (like component name, say "screw1::length" for example).

Can this be done ?

Or should I live with suffixes on global names ?

Thank you.

Steve

In another thread, you mentioned local and global parameters. This concept does not exist in Fusion 360.

In other CAD software (SolidWorks, Alibre Design, ZW3D to name a few) the feature set you are describing is called "Configurations". That feature set also does not yet exist but the need is something the Fusion 360 team has recognized!

OK, thank you.

So for now I have to live with suffixes added after copy/paste-new, which I assume I can rename to my taste.
