Are we able to create broken views in Fusion 360 for long components, if not does anybody know of another way to do it?

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting! Just to check - when you say "broken view", do you mean something like "Break View" feature in Inventor? If so, Fusion doesn't have this feature at the moment. I'm not sure how to work this around in Fusion but I found an enhancement request for this in the IdeaStaiton here and  you may consider voting for this. I hope this information helps.

Hi Masanobu,

I have not used Inventor but as far as I am aware there is only one type of broken view in the drawing environment so it must be the same. The function is used to show long parts while maintaining an acceptable width/height viewing scale.

I have very few complaints about Fusion 360 but the idea station is one of them, relying on votes to get features implemented is not a good system.

Features like broken views and being able to create a new sketch whilst in sketch mode should be implemented as a priority because they are critical to a users workflow, and not because they have been voted for.

Thanks for your reply.

The roadmap blog provides a high level overview of the development plan.

You can keep an eye on this blog to see what the big objectives are for the next 6 months. It doesn't encompass all the efforts underway and things can change over the course of time. However, it a good faith effort to make our high level goals visible to everyone.

Today, I do not see broken views on the roadmap, yet. However, I do note that the below idea's status is set to future consideration. This means we love the idea, but it’s quite a ways down the road. We don’t have a solid plan yet, but will consider it for future releases.

Adding votes to the ideastation is the best way to let the product management team know what is most important to you. We try to include note in our product updates when Ideas are implemented.

In your last post you mention, "create a new sketch whilst in sketch mode." Do you mean that you are looking to create a sketch in the drawings environment?

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Hi Nathan,

Thanks for the information on broken views.

Yes when I mentioned creating a new sketch it means doing it in the drawing environment, I may want to create 10 sketches but at the moment I would have to leave sketch mode and re-enter it every time.

Whilst in sketch mode I would like to be able to create 10 sketches at the same time because they can reference each other but do not interfere with each other when I return to modelling mode.
