Bringing selected vertices to same level

I want to flatten a side of a spline form.  Is there a way to select a number of vertices or points and zero them or match them to a orthographic point.  For instance move all selected points to the same coordinate in the Z direction.

Have you explored the pull or flatten commands in the Modify drop down?

I would imagine one of these commands could do the trick. I hope that helps!

Thanks for the help.  That didn't get what I wanted however.

Later - Okay it worked this time round.  There wasn't a select plane option the first time.  Don't understand why.

The flatten command does it but you have to be careful because it will not work if the vertices cross other unselected vertices.

Ive been looking for a method to do this also. It would help me nail dimensions with a tspline surface. It's a common workflow in Alias when CV sculpting.

You can snap to the grid or to another object just with a alt/ctrl. Because XYZ is on the mouse buttons, the snap can occur in only one plane which is super useful.

In the attached screen shot I copied a body and returned the vertices to their original position by using an offset plane and the Plane option in the Flatten tool.
