Body looks hollow in 360 but not when exported

So I am wanting to 3D print the Halo 5 Master Chief helmet and make it wearable. So, I need to have a hollowed out helmet. I have a .stl file that I have edited and worked up to be how I want the helmet to look and be hollow. I attached a picture to show the helmet in Fusion 360. However, when I export the finalized design to a .stl and import the file into my slicer program, Slic3r, it shows the helmet to be completely solid. I attached a picture to show what its importing the file as.

Is there a setting in Fusion 360 to truly hollow out a body even though it appears hollow? In the original file, there were faces present to show that the helmet is solid. I deleted the faced but its still being exported as a solid object like i never deleted the faces in the first place.

The STL export is based on the model geometry and Fusion 360 isn't doing anything to try and close any voids.  It would seem though that the problem is either in Fusion 360 creating the STL or in your software that's reading and slicing the STL.  One quick test that you can do is to read back the STL into Fusion 360 using the Insert Mesh command in the Insert panel.  If this looks bad then there's something funny going on with the STL export out of Fusion 360.  If it looks good then it's likely your slicer software.

I had previously exported the file as a mesh .stl file and reloaded it into Fusion 360. It did reload perfectly, so at that point, I wasn't sure exactly how Fusion 360 worked with exporting. I did take your advice and try a different slicer program (Cura) and it imported into the software just as I intended for it to look. So now I will be printing helmets and armor. Thanks!
