Best way to make a brick wall?

Hello!

I have some experience with Fusion 360 and have created some complicated machines with it. So using the software is not the problem. The issue here is getting the right concept/approach.

I am trying to create a brick wall for my model railroad. It is to be printed with a 3D printer and then painted.

Therefore, the wall joints must be a little deeper than the stones, to fill them with paint later on. I tried to create a single brick with joints around and use a rectangle patter. This works in principle, but makes the software slow and almost unusable.

Is there another approach to solve this problem?

Thanks for any idea

Are you looking for a single flat wall?

How large was the pattern ?

Can you share an image?

I am thinking Web might be the easiest way.

This is how it should finally look.
The overall dimension is about 100 x 100 mm. One brick has the dimensions 2.5 x 0.6 mm without wall joint. The wall joint is about 0.15 mm.

My idea is to use a large flat wall as a base. Then I make cutouts for windows and doors and remove all unnecessary areas.
I'm doing a test with a flat wall right now. Then I draw the pattern as one long line. Then I use the Pipe tool and subtract the pipe from the wall.
That seems to be a workable way. I will do more tests tomorrow.

I can not see at the moment how the web tool can help in this case.  Maybe similar to the pipe tool to then subtract the web?

Thanks for your help

Hi,

Simply create a rectangular pattern for each field using the principle shown in the screencast.
However, it must be taken into account that the resulting dimensions can also be realized in 3D printing.

Thanks to all of you!

I used different ways for different parts. And in the end i got it done.

But Fusion still has problems with large patterns.

Web would be great as a stamp and works fine. But it is limited to 99 elements!?

Here you see the first print test. Not so bad. If I don't forget I show you the final result. But it will take some time.

I can barely begin to imagine the amount of pain you went through to design this model specifically in Fusion 360, because it's possible the worst of all CAD software for this sort of thing.
