Best way to design zipper

Hi,

I'm doing a design of a bag, sort of like a diaper bag. It is product design, not meant for manufacturing (at least not yet). Naturally the bag has zippers. My question is how best to model the zippers? Is there an easy way to model it in fusion 360, or is it just best to model a surface strippe and put on it a zipper texture?

Thanks!

Hello,

I not sure if this is really what you want, but for the zipper is possible to use 'Pattern on Path' command which enables you to patter a body along 2D/3D curve.

I attached an example.

@Pavel_Holecek: That's a great work. What do you think about patterning faces instead of bodies?

Hello,

I think that it is much easier to select one body instead of many faces. If you select all faces then pattern creates a new body for each instance.

@Pavel_Holecek: True - it's easier to select. But aren't faces and features faster to process for Fusion 360? Keeping things fast isn't to ignore in my experience.

hi i'm a complete beginner i was wondering how to actually make something like that, it doesn't have to be complex just something simple that will be distinguishable as a zipper.

He posted a model in message 2.  downloading that and stepping through the timeline would be a good place to start.
