Best way to create a zipper

I am creating a case as you can see in the photo attached and need to make a zipper going around the edges of my shape.  What is the best way to accomplish this?

Seems pretty easy.  First I'd make a zipper tooth shape, use a circular pattern on it to create a bunch of copies, with spacing between them the same as the tooth width.  Then I'd make a copy of those copies and rotate them so that they rest between the other teeth.  Now you have your zipper teeth all zipped up.   Then all that's left is to make the part that zips, and a layer on the outside of the teeth to make them look attached to the object.

Sounds like you should watch all the tutorials you can find on youtube, because what you're asking is pretty novice stuff.  You'll learn a lot more there a lot quicker.

You'd create one tooth of the zipper and then you can use one pattern along path with the proper spacing. You'd do a second pattern with a 180 deg rotated tooth and and the same spacing, but offset by the spacing so the teeth mesh.

As opposed to the circular pattern that allows you to create a patten along an almost arbitrary path including the oval shape in your screenshot or a spline.
