Best method to import designs

Either I can save a Solidworks assembly as a part file and import that into Fusion (Imports parts as bodies) or I can import the asctual assembly (Imports parts as components).

Which method is the better of the two. The first is a little quicker and easier to do as I then don't need to ensure that I am uploading the assembly as well as all the part files but I am wondering if there are any drawbacks to this method or any benifits of the other.

Thanks

Hello,

I think better way is uploading assembly + all its components. Your Fusion model will stay "assembly", which means you will see all your components in Fusion browser tree and you will be able to show/hide each component. When I exported Inventor assembly as STP and import it into Fusion I also see all components, so both your ways are probably similar. You can upload using Fusion Data Panel or alternative way is

1. From within Fusion launch A 360 (triagngle icon close to magnifier search icon) page in you default web browser

2. Upload via A 360, upload is fast - image attached

3. Back in Fusion right mouse click on just upload assembly file and choose first command Create Fusion Design

4. Converted (Fusion ready to open) file will apper in project root page

Time consumed by A 360 upload + Create Fusion Design is same as direct Fusion Data panel upload

Regards
