Bending a shape

Hello All,

I have created a basic cone shape with a hole in the middle.  I need to alter the shape of this cone to form a "spout" at the top (small radius) end of the cone, but I am new to Fusion and don't know how to go about it.  I am looking at splines, but having a problem getting started.  I need to bend the shape around, but still keep the top of the cone round, i.e. I just need to sculpt the cone to form a spout, like a short faucet.

If anyone out there has any suggestions, I would appreciate it!

Thanks,

Dave

I have attached the cone as it is now.

I find it difficult to replicate the mental image you must have in your mind just from your description.

If you can roughly sketch (on paper or otherwise) what you want the final shape to look like I am sure I can show you one or more ways yo achieve what you are looking for.

Hi TrippyLIghing,

Thanks for your reply. I have attached a rough sketch of what I am trying to do.  I want to bend the top of the cone over around 30-45 degrees, while keeping the hole in the top round.  The intent is for a nozzle that is pointed away from the center.

Hope this helps.  I hope to hear from you on how to do this.

Thanks,

Dave

I am not on my Fusion 360 machine at the moment, otherwise I'd make a quick screencast.

One good tool to use for this is a loft with a center rail.

1. Draw a spline (one continuous spline) in the center resembling the bend curve. Start the spline at the Origin,. THat will make things easier.

2. Make a sketch for the the big center circle on the bottom. Use the origin as hte center.

3. create a construction plane along path, with the path being the spline you skeched earlier, and draw the plane it to the end where you wan the faucet opening to be.

4. Sketch a circle on that construction plane wtihte center being the end of the spline.

5. Create a loft between these two circles and the spline being the center rail.

Hello TrippyLighting,

Cool. That actually works!  At least with a solid.  Will try to cut in the hole and other features.

Thanks,

Dave
