Bend body

Hello,

Is there a bend feature on Fusion360?

I have a body like that and I need to bend it from the middle :

Thanks,

Hello Anto1729, I hope that I can help you

First, is it true the profile of your body is like this? Can you give us more clear image about your body?:

Unbend

Second, if you want to bend your body I suggest you to change the dimension (the red circle) in the image below:

Bend

And you will get "bend" body. Hope this solve your problem.

Anyway, can you help me to like my projects? I'm participating in Autodesk 360 Mini Competition in Indonesia, "Indonesia Handicraft". Here's the links to my projects:

1. https://gallery.autodesk.com/fusion-360/projects/kujang

2. https://gallery.autodesk.com/fusion-360/projects/delman-style-lounge-chair

3. https://gallery.autodesk.com/fusion-360/projects/akik-indonesian-gemstone

I need 50 likes in each project to be judges by juries/panel. Thank you very much!

Best Regards,

Arif

Thanks for answering but that cannot solve my problem. Indeed, I first draw a body by using a picture(=> no sketch like your solution), then I cut to have variable thickness.

Here another picture :

I would like to bend my board like that :

I am going to vote for your project 😉

Thanks for likes Anto1729, I searching through internet and found this (and you have commented on that 🙂http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/ideastation-request-a-feature-or/bend-body/idi-p/5291287/page/5#commen...

So I think for now, we don't have bend tools. I suggest you to create the bend body directly from T-spline. But I'm sorry, I'm more familiar with Inventor before (so I'm more familiar with sketch) and I just 2 weeks ago start to using Fusion 360 so below image is my trial to make a T-spline:

I'm confident you can create t-spline better than me 🙂
Sorry so this is that I can do to help you

Hi @Anonymous,

So unfortunately (if I'm reading your question correctly) we at this time do not have a bend command. Referring to the forum post below:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/design-validate-document/how-to-model-bent-wood/m-p/5807705

I think that that user wanted the same sort of bend you were looking for. In that post some workarounds were mentioned so I figured instead of repeat myself, I'd just post the link! Let me know if that is what you were looking for.

Thanks,

it's not unfortunately what exactly I wanted. Otherwise can I transform a solid to a T spline form? Indeed I could bend my object with T splines.

Hello anto1729,

Here is a video Keqing did on "bending" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hicToIPxYJI

Not sure if this is something you could use, but it is still a nice video on the subject.

Best regards,

Ludo

No, you cannot!

just as with any other modeling method in Fusion 360 if you want it to look bent, you have to design it like that from the start. You can do that in Solid Modeling or in the T-Spline environment.

What you are describing is easy to do in Blender with a deform modifier, however, Blender is a subdivision surface modeling software and not a CAD systems.

There is a 'bend solid' solution using a different piece of software. MoI (Moment of Inspiration) is quite impressive in its ability to bend solid objects using the 'Flow' command. I think you would be able to use a trial license long enough to perform the task and then save it out as a STEP file to be reimported into Fusion 360.

I would highly recommend watching a tutorial first however as there is quite a specific routine that needs to be followed to get it to work correctly.

I hope this helps?
