beginner straight line problem

Using Fusion 360.

1st line - I draw a line 40mm from the origin to the RHS (X axis)

2nd line - Then draw a line up 8mm and back 30 degrees. which is ok.

3rd line - I try to draw a vertical line 40mm but it always curves. I cannot get it straight...........and the Tangent symbol always appears next to the curve..............I'm sure its a so simple fix.............

I think,,,, you are performing a shortcut that I always forget exist and how to use it. If you click and hold, iirc, at the end of a line it creates a curve tangent to the line.

Something like that. I don't remember exactly

@evanp4509U4JZ has it correct.  Line drawing in Fusion is: click to start, move (not drag), click to end and start a new line.  A drag operation in the Line command creates a tangent arc from the end of the previous line.

When drawing lines, if you hold down the mouse button, rather than making a "click", Fusion will draw arcs. It sounds like on the third line you are pressing the mouse button and dragging the mouse which would start the arc command.

is there any shortcut key to prevent the drag arc, it seems sometimes that I create a very small arc even though I am trying to be very careful about dragging, I tried lowering my mouse speed to see if that will help as I do run at the max.
