I am trying to make an electric guitar. For now it is a relatively simple project in that I will only cut from the top of the stock.
The stock is about 1.5" thick and expensive wood, so I don't want to cut into it to make sure I have things setup correctly. Instead I was hoping to use some inexpensive MDF that is only 3/4" thick to test the basic layout and pockets I have to make.
My plan is to:
1) Create parameter for material thickness (material_thick)
2) Create parameter for depth of various pockets (pocket_depth)
3) Then sketch the shape of the guitar on the xy plane with z=0
4) Push / Pull it up by an amount = material_thick
5) Create a sketch on the top surface of the body
6) sketch various grooves / holes etc that are required.
7) Push / Pull down into the body by an amount = pocket_depth
8) Run test cut in 3/4 in MDF to make sure i have layout right
Assuming I have it right, then I want to use the real material......which will require changing the thickness of material and depth of pockets.
This is the part I don't know how to do....any advice / suggestions would be very helpful
Thanks in advance!
Paul
