Basic, edit sketch of part

This is obviosly basic, but I am frustrated trying to find the original sketch to edit (I am familiar with Inventor), for instance on a revolve profile, oe even simple dimensions for a sketch. I can't even find the profile sketch... what am I missing. Please help.

Thanks

If you right click a surface on the model there should be an option to edit the feature and the profile sketch.

I'd suggest you with the video tutorials here.

I can edit a feature with the surface select, right click, but I need to edit the entire profile of the revolve.

If you created the revolve using a sketch, you'll be able to ind the sketch in the browser tree. That stuff is covered in the tutorials I linked to.

If you select a surface created by revolving a sketch and right click there should be an option to edit the profile sketch the revolve was created from.

This should be no different than in Inventor.

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

I can see a sketch of the entire profile (slice view), but not the original sketch I used for the revolution. There are no dimensions, and it overconstrains if I add them. Super frustrated.

Do you have the Visibility for the desired sketch turned on (just like in Inventor)?

Sketch Visibility.png

First thing I noticed is that your circle in Sketch1 is not constrained to the Origin.

I would constrain to the origin in Inventor or in Fusion.

Then I notice that Sketch2 is missing an obvious dimension?

I don't understand why you added a Chamfer feature and then deleted it?

Sketch4 is missing dimensions?  If I dimension the larger circle - I get an "oddball" size.

Sketch5 is not fully defined?  Construction line used later for Revolve2 is not vertical.

Sketch6 is not fully defined?

Revolve2 axis is not what I would expect (Z - Axis)

Not sure of purpose of Sketch8?

Sketch9 circle diameter is not what I would expect and location of circle is not defined.

Extrude7 leaves some geometry that I would not expect.

Sketch11 is not fully defined?

What are you trying to edit? The first revolve in your timeline is just the 2 lines and arc in the red box, the rest of the profile is a projection created from the extrusions before it in the timeline.

Is your first revolve supposed to be off centre? The vertical construction line is offset from the origin.

I am not familiar with .f3d files, so here's another one that might be better.

Isn't this the same file with the same issues?

Wow. You guys are amazing at diagnosing issues! To clarify, I have "basic" inventor skills. Per the file, I am just getting familiar with the product (a few weeks) and didn't know the best way to get my part out there... I recall that I wanted to revolve, but later decided to extrude and then revolve. There are obvious rookie mistakes and poor designing issues. Thanks for helping to figure that out. I probably need to start from scratch and use all your suggestions (read up on constraining), etc.

For another model, I just need to move the (2) holes for the jaws, but I don't see dimensions on the drawing to edit. (There are probably a slough of design errors). I just don't get why I can't see the dimensions when I edit the holes? This seems like a no-brainer, but not for me.

Thanks so much, this help is amazing...

Any tricks for milling with a radius tool? My tool is off or something in Fusion, and it cuts off.

Examine how this part was constructed.

Here's a screencast that shows how to find the sketch controlling the position of the holes. By the way you could have used one sketch with just points then used the hole tool to create the holes and counterbores in one go.

Thanks for that... I didn't try to address the smaller holes which had the dimensional parameters/ dimensions. Sorry for the confusion. For some reason, it seemed easier to work in Inventor, but I haven't been able to work on the organization in the browser and understand the workflow in the timeline.... lot's of good direction today from the group here!!!

Just a question? Is anyone ever available to work through some details when designing (on Fusion) through SCREENCAST? I am learning to use my new CNC mill at the same time as 360, and things can get overwhelming and waste hours upon hours!

THANKS AGAIN.
