Baffling self-intersection issue

I am working on a human figure (mermaid fish tank ornament) and have encountered a self-intersection error I can't figure out.

Here is the wide view with the problem area circled:Wide view of the face with problem area circledWide view of the face with problem area circled

When attempting conversion, Fusion 360 identifies this surface as self-intersecting:

Allegedly self intersecting face within eyeAllegedly self intersecting face within eye

In box mode, there are no apparent self-intersections:

I did some searching and learned about detached tangency handles, but those don't seem to be an issue:

I admit I'm baffled and can't figure out what is supposedly self-intersecting.  But it is true that when I delete that face, the rest of the model converts fine, but with a hole.  So there is a problem there that I can't figure out.

Thanks!

It looks like you creases he T-Spline in that area. Dows this go away if you un-crease the edges ?

I've seen these issues several times when trying to convert Sub-D with more complex geometry into T-Splines. This is happens particularly in the eye and mouth area.

As this is a real pain to fix in Fusion 360 due to a lack of tools I usually resort to Blender.

There are creases meeting at the corner.  If I remove all three at that corner it removes that error but also gets rid of what I'm trying to do with the shape there.

The first draft of the eye had the hollow but with the "iris" extending forward.  It was the addition of the iris that led to difficulty here.

Now that the long weekend is over, does anyone have any insight?  The same issue has developed on the inside corner of the eye, too, with the same non-intersection in box view and the same lack of detached tangency handles.  I'm at a loss and I haven't pushed the design forward any while I'm trying to figure this out.  I don't want to go around creating even more mysterious problems I can't solve except by deleting faces.

Thanks!

What's happening in the circled area?  looks a lot different than the smooth version, more edges and vertices.  Could just be the perspective of the pic.  I have seen multiple short edge segments appear to merge visually while in smooth mode.  Try repair body and see if you have unexpected N-gons here.

Without access to your file this is difficult to answer.

This is simply a N-Gons that you can get rid of by using the insert point feature from the modify menu in the sculpt environment

Here is a screencast to make things clearer

Thank you, that did it!  I'm now off to create many more problems that will confuse me.
