Assembly question, timeline

Hi, I'm having trouble with an assembly, making modifications to it, I know I probably did something weird, i can share the file to the support (fusion 360) to figure what went wrong.

I have attached a simple screencast showing that when i try to edit the part, the part to which is referenced to, is not shown.

Thank you

Hi @Felipe.G,

1. I can see, you didn't follow R.U.L.E #1 as you should have!

2. Have you tried to locate the sketch in the browser and open it from there?

3. Is it an imported component?

4. I can also see a Yellow (warning) work plane in the Time line - Not good!

4. It will be very helpful if you could share the file.

Cheers / Ben

Hmm, lemme guess. Did you move the component to better position it sometime in the assembly?

Your mistake is very easy to re-create. You are using a workflow that is suboptimal for your design.

You are creating sketches, which is why you have a sketch folder at the top level.

Then you crete bodies from these sketches, which is why you have bodies folder at the top level.

Then you create components from these bodies.

When you move a component to a location different from the original position it was created in, the body in that component and the sketch are not in the same position anymore.

Following the R.U.L.E #1 workflow will avoid this as sketches, features etc.  will be part of the components they belong to. When you move a component everything moves with it.

Ok, Did it again on a copy of the file and found the problem I had the first time, I have attached a bit longer screencast of the problem.

So basically i got stuck back into trying to rebuilt the part because the sketch is not available.
