Assembly constraints on timeline

Hi,

I designed a lamp and assigned some constraints.

Mantaininig these constraints I want to animate them on the timeline (animation module).

I want to show this animation on my iPad and Autodesk 360.

How to do it?

regards

Hey Gabriele, this is a good short video showing joints and animating them:

Hi Gabriele,

Good question!

Currently, the Animations workspace does not support joints or assembly constraints, so there's no way for you to capture your constraint animations there. We have a team who is building out this functionality right now however, and we're shooting to be able to deliver it in the next couple of releases.

In the meantime, I'd suggest either:

1. Using something like Screencast to capture the Animate Joint/Model simulation from in the Model workspace.

2. Manually replicating the movements using the Transform Components command in the Animation workspace to get the animation you're looking for.

Thanks for your patience, we're looking forward to bringing you this functionality soon. Please let me know if you have any other questions or comments on this!

Best,

Timera

Ok, I see.

Joints aren't applied in the animation module, there are no constraints.

How can I re-orient precisely the pivot?

When I select reorient option in the animation module the pivot is not snapped for example on vertex, perpendicular to a face or in holes center.

How to record a rotation?

Also when I move the pivot it doesn't follow the cursor, there is no realtime feedback. (Osx)

Hi Gabriele,

You're correct, the reorient tool currently doesn't have the intelligence to snap to holes, vertex, faces, etc. This is another enhancement that the team is working on to make creating animations easier. Here's a short video showing how reorient works today: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ccrj9imcsho8pw2/reorient.mp4?dl=0

If you have some time today or tomorrow, we can hop on a go-to-meeting and walk through this together with your dataset. If you're interested in that, shoot me an email with some times that work for you and we'll set something up.

Best,

Timera
