Fusion360 Appearance Error.png

I'm unsure why this appearance isn't working, all of the gold is supposed to be the shiny-looking polished gold on the right, yet for some reason, the pieces on the left with the same gold appearance are not looking how they should.

I have tried closing and restarting, resetting appearances, changing the material, and the problem still persists.

It could possibly be a graphics issue. Have you tried updating your graphics driver?

I suggest you click on the "Render" button and see if that's still the case 😉

Darling I know how render works and would not have posted this issue if that fixed it. But thanks for the high and mighty response "😉"

I did, currently the graphics and all systems are up to date 😕 so I'm unsure why it's having this problem

No problem sweetheart. Can you share the model so I might investigate?

What render background / HDRI are you using?

Attached the pieces below, I'm not sure if it attaches the appearance details with them though??

Please export the design in native .f3d format. That will include the applied appearances.

Thanks!

Lighting and Fillets, Fillets, Fillets. That's all I can say. I'll demonstrate that once I get home in a few hours.

The gold appearance was properly applied to your model, however, perfectly flat, highly specular surfaces will look a little off when rendered, compared to surfaces with curvature.

The first thing I did was apply fillets to most edges. The specular highlights on those fillets will make the object readable by the eye as no normal object has perfectly sharp corners.

The second thing I did was to use the Small Hangar HDRI in 4K from HDRI Haven as a custom environment. It has less light from the top.

The third thig I did was to duplicate the existing polished gold material and added a very slight bump map to give the flat surface more interest.

 Very nice model BTW!

You can call me Honeybun now 😉

Here is a better visualization of the effects .

Perfectly flat surfaces and perfectly sharp corners:

Slightly Curved (top) surfaces and fillets (same lighting!)
