Appearance Function - Component Color Error

I am trying to change the appearance to look as follows (first image) but receive the error in the bottom right. Component Color Cycling has been disabled temporarily.  The desired appearance only shows up when in the appearance window. As soon as I click close the second image is what it reverts to.  It must be selecting some default colors for each component?  I need to get the selections to stick while editing the model.  Please advise. Thank you!

I think the error messages are the clue here.  You have somehow turned on this "Component color cycling" mode.  Quite likely this is because the "n" key is a hotkey for this, and you may have accidentally hit it at some point.

To disable this mode, either hit "n" again, or go to this dropdown:

Thanks that was it. If only the error message was a little more insightful. 🙂
