Any way to deal with different release versions?

Hi,

I'm mentoring a High School robotics team where we use a mix of school computers and personal laptops.  The current situation is that the school release version (on their network) is older than the current release on the laptops (which automatically update).

So if someone opens a design on their laptop, then we can no longer edit it at school.  Obviously we need to get the school computer lab updated asap, but I'm wondering if there is a way to "save as" a previous release version, or roll back the release that is installed on the personal laptops.

Thanks in advance!

Paul

Hi @PaulBraun,

Unfortunately your only option in this case is to keep your lab machines up to date with the non-lab ones.

Fusion doesn't save to older versions.

Hope that helps,

You could File>Export to *.stp, but you will lose feature history.

The Direct Modeling tools can be used for edit of the geometry.

I've run into this same problem at our school.  Currently, the only good solution seems to be to not do the 'lab install', as pestering our (overworked) IT guy to run Fusion updates every few weeks is a non-starter.  We have switched to every user installing Fusion under their login - yes, it duplicates the program file, but at least then when they login, it can update.  HD space is cheaper than IT dept frustration, at least for now.  I'm hoping that the Fusion team can work out how to have the 'lab install' auto-update, like the individual install does.

Good luck!
