Another newbie question about joints

I am stuck. There is a joint that has created an error. When I edit the joint it says one of the faces/points is missing, shows a red arrow and a partial text that says something is missing. It will not let me selected the point to redo it. I can select the other point in the dialog (or really deselect) but the one that is missing simply will not let me do anything about it. In the past I have simply deleted the joint and re-did it from scratch but I was wondering how I am really supposed to fix it.  Attached is a screen shot. Notice everything is ghosted out, even the point it knows about

No screenshot attached. In general it is even better too share the model. You can export it as a .f3d and attach it to your next post.
