Aligning two sketches

This is probably a very simple and stupid problem, but I just can't figure it out:

I'm drawing a circle in one sketch, and a line in another sketch. The two sketches are on perpendicular planes. Back in the model view, I select the center of the circle (it turns blue) and one vertex of the line, and then right click to align the two. Nothing happens.

If I delete everything and try again several times, I sometimes succeed in getting the center of the circle to align to the vertex of the line.

Can someone tell me why this is not working and what I'm doing wrong?

And Autodesk, maybe you could provide some kind of feedback to tell users why the command fails? (Maya does this by writing a message in the text command window.)

One solution may be to use the project command. This will allow you to project geometry from one sketch or other 3D geometry into the sketch you are currently working in. You can use the projected sketch geometry to guide the creation of your current sketch. Another benefit is that the projection will be associative. For example, if you move the first sketch, the projected geometry will update in the second sketch.

See the brief screencast below for a hint.

I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
