Align two objects end to edge

I am a beginner with Fusion 360. If this idea already exists please provide a tutorial for me. I found the Align feature which aligns center points on a flat surface. That is a good thing.

However, what I need to happen is to align a flat surface to a round surface. A example would be making a T joint for welding two round rods together. The center of the flat end of a rod needs to meet the edge of the second rod at the center of the length of the second rod to create a T joint.

Hey bbrown1951,

Fusion can't align tangentially like that, as there's no reference geometry for where to align it around the circumference of the profile.  But you can set it up to align, by:

1. converting the bodies to components

2. activing one component

3. giving it a plane to align the other component to.

4. using the align components command, rather than the align command.

Here's a screencast video of it: http://autode.sk/1fJtaA6

Does that answer you question?  Just let me know how else I can help!

Enjoy yourself,
Taner

I would try an offset sketch plane and offset it to the edge of the round part. This way you can line up the flat part and retain control

of the placement.
