Align sketch dimension

I have a problem with sketch dimension.

I align it, but then it moves off when I do the resizing.

I want it to look like the first picture.

You can drag the dimensions to new locations.

I don't know.

I don't even know how you dimensioned to the other side without anything to click on and have your dimensions hanging out in space attached to nothing like that.
