Advice on creating hypoid bevel gears

Hello,

I would like to create a hypoid bevel gear set, however I'm unsure how to go about creating this inside of Fusion 360. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions or experience creating gears like this. I included an image of a hypoid gear set with a similar design to what I am trying to create. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi @Anonymous,

I'm not sure if this app will help you a lot: https://apps.autodesk.com/FUSION/en/Detail/Index?id=2791960362914790676&appLang=en&os=Win64

I have created a video, showing how to create a costume Thread. You can use the same technique to create the tooth gear profile. Then you can use the Circular Pattern tool to duplicate the tooth.

Hey @Anonymous,

I have just created this one and I thought maybe you could use it 😉 Just reverse engineer it to see how I created it.

I'm thinking about making a video tutorial on how to create hypoid bevel gears.

Hi Ben,

Thank you for all the information, It has helped me out a lot!

One question I still have is, after creating a crown gear like the one you have created, how can I then create a pinion gear that will mesh with the crown gear?

Essentially it is the same but smaller. The tip of the tooth will need to be smaller, but it also depends on the general profile of the tooth. I have seen many variations of this gear.

Play with it, create a copy of this body and see how they are interacting with each other. This will also help you to understand what changes you will need make in order for both gears to mesh together. Another thing you need to consider, and it's the ratio between the two gears!

Let me know, if you get stock.
