Adding Triangular Note Feature to Drawing

Good Day,

Have looked in the various drawing symbols but have not yet found the way to add the note triangle.  Would prefer that a leader be added to point to a specific item.  Using Sketch to make a triangle then adding a number seems a bit cumbersome. Did I miss something? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fusion 360 does not have a built-in Note Tag process so I created my own.  It is not the prettiest process in the world but it works well for me.  I have hopes such a process will be added in the future.

Hi @tdunlap

Have you tried a revision tag? These are triangular.

Under “Tables”, choose Revision Marker. If you tweak your document settings, you can change the numbering scheme to suit your requirements.

John,

As an old timer most of the drawings we made, almost all, had triangular notes.  I have ANSI standards dates Y14.1-1975. Of course we used a drafting tables back then.

Many thanks for the tip.  I agree that is is quite the process and will use it until the developer team decides to make this part of the next update.  It should be a relatively easy addition.

I will accept this as the solution.

I have finally made my own Note Triangles for Fusion360.  I built the symbols in Illustrator. Then exported them as transparent .png files. I usually have no more that 10 notes on a drawing.  I insert the images into the drawing then reduce the to .20 scale. Move to the desired location in the drawing, the add the note leader. Let me know if this is an acceptable (alternate) solution.

Hi @tdunlap @tdunlap

I still think my suggestion above would be easier in the long run (especially if you need more than 10). Here is a quick animated GIF of the workflow.

1) Set up the Revision Scheme

2) Create a Rev table with 10+ rows

3) Delete the rows

4) Insert the rev markers as needed.smaller GIF.gif

Note they can be placed without a leader, which means that you can attach them to views and dimensions, the tag will move with the view or dimension, see below:

This certainly beats my concept.  I think I will give this a try. Any time we can automate a process it makes the work easier.  The big key is getting the people to read the drawings correcty.

I have tried your suggestion. It is clearly the BEST way to place notations on a drawing. Many thanks for the suggestion.
