Adding joint origin to the center of a torus

Hello, I am currently trying to create a model where I have a ringed-shape wire passing through a circular pattern of wheels (as shown below). However, I tried using the assemble tool to join the ring (created using a torus) to the center of the wheel. The problem that I am facing is that the joint origin of the torus is in the center of the circle rather than the center of the cylindrical ring. How do I assign a joint origin in the center of the ring and how do I repeat this around the ring? Thank you very much.

 

p.s. What I currently did is just creating the ring of wheels using the circular pattern tool, and then moved it manually to the torus without assigning any joints.

You can do it with a couple of sketches as long as the torus is centered on the origin

you do one sketch from the origin straight up through the torus then do a plane tangent to faces at point this gives you a plane on top of the torus then do a sketch from the plane back down to the center of the torus you have to have the view cube on a angle it's a 3D sketch diamention it as you are doing it,

 

Then draw a line 90 degrees to the first line this gives you a path for the joint origin to go on and a end point.

Ruff yes give me some time I probably find a better way to do it or someone else will have a way to do it.

there is a better way draw a line from the origin to the center of the torus then draw a line 90 degrees to that first line, then use the second line for the joint origin just hold ctrl down when you have the joint origin in the correct orientation.

 

I cant do a screencast it does not work if that is going.

Here's an idea again using 2 sketches. In the first sketch use Project Intersect to create a cross section of the torus. Then create a line in the second sketch anchored to the centre of the circle from the first sketch and pattern the line to create points for each of your wheels. What you end up with will update to match any edits of the torus diameter.
