Adding fin to a pipe

Hi evryone,

I would like to model an heat exchanger with fin (you can find below a reference picture of what I would like to achive), but I have no idea of how to it. 

I have already design the pipe that flows into my heat exchanger,

so I need to add the fin. Is there a smart way that I could do that ? The simpler, the better since I'm extremely new to CAO!

Are the circular fins, done as a series of round plates, or a spiral coil?

 

Are they fitted to just the long Pipes, and not to the joiners?

Will the pipe really be welded pieces as you have shown in your picture or will it be bent return corners?  Why do you need modeled fins (would cosmetic representation suffice)?

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Let me be more specific - can you Attach a *.f3d file demonstrating the use of Coil feature as a solution to the design issue posed by @capucine_lasserre2001

yup

If you select the end face you can modify the profile with a sketch

not going to post f3d  cause I don't want to leave him with my bad habits....thats for experts only

no, this model will be used in CFD, and the fins are here to disturb the flow around the pipe !

Hi, @TheCADWhisperer the pipe would be welded I think, but to be honest I have no idea since the goal is to model the flow via computational flow dynamics and not actually build it...

Do you really want the flow inside the pipe to hit sharp corners?

no the fins are for a fluids that flows outside of the pipe. And also the geometry of the fins does not need to be really similar to the photos, it is just the general idea that matters.

I previously posted a screen capture of my rough try is that of interest to you as a Fusion 360 file?... It is pretty rudimentary.

My question isn't about the fins - I haven't got that far.

My question is about the sharp angle paths.  I do not recall ever seen anything like that in the real world at that size.

Do you have a picture of something similar from the real world?

Hi,

Sorry I didn't understood the question,

the sharp angle are here just because I haven't found another way to liks pipe that are not on the same heigth, so no it's not something important in the geometry just a consequence of how I use CAO.

I would expect it to be critically important to the analysis.

Do you have a picture of something similar from the real world - or is this a novel design of a type never before seen by man, woman or beast?
