Adding anisotropic material properties

Hi everyone,

i'm quite new in autodesk fusion 360. Therefore, my question can sound odd, but i would like to learn, if it is possible to variate material properties depending on overhang angle. Can the software notice the overhang angle and assign material properties for this angle?

Due to additive manufacturing, I have a material, which shows different properties depending on overhang angle and I want to do generative design with this anisotropic material properties. The structure is an organic structure and it isn't possible to add thickness with hand calculations.

Thank you for your help!

Best Regards,

Hi @Anonymous!

Geometry-driven variation in material properties isn't currently supported in generative design's solver. It's on my wish-list of features to include in the additive manufacturing kernel for generative design, but it's really difficult to do correctly, and there are very few materials for which have good models for this kind of behavior.

Thanks for asking!

Ben
