Add Perpetual Cut, Join, and Intersect to Extrude Feature

An idea I had that would solve some configuration issues we have on our design team would be to allow the operations of Extrude to be "perpetual", meaning:

Rather than the Extrude relying on the intersected bodies to always be there for the Extrude to work, it can be set to apply the Extrude operation to any body that happens to intersect into the Extrusion space, i.e.: perpetual.

It becomes space-defined instead of body-defined, which creates a lot of flexibility.

Of course, there would be a choice to have it set to Perpetual or not.

This helps with configurations when bodies within a component are needing to be "swapped" with new bodies, but still require certain Extrusions to be applied to ALL bodies that could be in the component.

Currently, if we "swap" the body out (5" channel to 8" channel for example), any extrusions dependent on the original body are now automatically suppressed in the configuration, thereby requiring a new extrude. This confuses the feature timeline and I assume would increase compute times due to duplicate features.

Thanks for any consideration.

Hi @CMCORE

This is a great idea.  It will make features compute a bit more resiliently.  We dont have plans at the moment to support this flexible way of tracking geometry for terminations.
